Sushila Chanu - Beautiful Indian Women Hockey Player


Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam (Born on 25 February, 1992 in Manipur) is an Indian field hockey player and a former captain of Indian national team. Sushila Chanu was skipper of the Indian junior bronze medal winning team of 2013 Junior World Cup held at Monchengladbach, Germany.


Sushila Born is the second daughter of her parents, Pukhrambam Shyamsundar Singh and Pukhrambam ongbi Lata Devi. With the help of her uncle Robindro Singh through A. Angina Devi Sushila started playing Hockey for Posterior Hockey Academy Manipur. Chanu plays as halfback and has garnered attention for her defensive skills.


In 2006, Sushila Chanu shifted her base to Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy situated at Gwalior with the help of Inaocha Singh and following the steps of India's hockey team captain from Manipur like, Tingongleima, Surjalata and Th. Ranjita Devi.


P Sushila Chanu played her first international match of hockey in the year 2008 by representing India in the Under-21 Asia Cup hockey tournament at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where India won a bronze medal. In 2009 she also participated in Under-19 Asia Cup hockey tournament at China.


Sushila represented India's senior team in the 9th Series Hockey tournament held at Australia. She was also part of the India team in the Olympic qualifying round in 2012. Sushila Chanu also took part in the India team and participated in the World League round played at New Delhi in India.


P Sushila Chanu, a young hockey player from Manipur who captained India's Junior Hockey bronze winning team in the World Hockey Junior Cup 2013 could make India proud by winning the Junior Hockey World Cup in Germany after 38 years.


Chanu collected attention for her presentation at the 2014-15 World Hocker League Semifinals where the Indian team updated higher ranked teams containing Japan and finished on fifth-place. Chanu also managed the team in 2016 Rio Olympics. She plays as a halfback for the team.
