Nameirakpam Kunjarani Devi (born 1 March 1968 at Kairang Mayai Leikai in Imphal, Manipur) is the most decorated Indian sportswoman in weightlifting. Kunjarani Devi has won 3 gold, 31 silver and 12 bronze medals in international championships. In the Indian National Championship she has won 23 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Kunjarani Devi "One of The Top 100 Greats of All Time weightlifters" has been rated by the International Weightlifting Federation.
Kunjarani Devi started winning medals, mostly Gold, in the National Weightlifting Championships in 44-kilogram, 46kilogram and 48-kilogram, the latter her final weight category. She created two new National Records in Trivandrum in 1987. Changing her weight category to 46-kilogram she claimed a Gold in Pune in 1994 but was relegated to Silver when she tried to compete in the 48-kilogram class four years later in Manipur.
Kunjarani Devi, a recipient of Arjuna award in 1990 and shared the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award for the year 1996-1997. In the same year she also won the K.K.Birla Sports award.
She has won 19 silver and 1 bronze in the Championship. In 1998, Kunjarani clinched the gold medal in the women's 48-kg. Category in the weightlifting event of the 17th Commonwealth Games. She was suspended for six months after testing positive for anabolic steroids in 2001.
Kunjarani Devi claimed the gold medal at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne in the 48 kg category with a Games record. Kunjarani Devi joined the Central Reserve Police Force and holds the rank of an Assistant Commandant in the Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF).
