Jhulan Goswami (Born 25 November 1983 in Nadia, West Bengal) is an all round Indian Woman Cricketer. Former captain of the Indian women's cricket team, Jhulan is the leading wicket taker in the history of women ODI cricket.
Jhulan is all rounder cricketer. She made her debut as an 18-year-old on 14 January 2002 against England team. She noted for both her batting and right arm medium bowling capabilities. She has a Test bowling average of less than 20. She guided the Indian women cricket team to first test series win in England in 2006-07
Jhulan is fastest bowlers in women's cricket and is second in the all-time list of ODI wicket-takers. She has taken 200 wickets in 166 one-day internationals and 40 from 10 Tests for India. She is the third on the overall all-time wicket-takers list. She also has 50 wickets in 60 20–20 Internationals. Overall she has 271 international wickets in 223 games and has scored 1593 runs with three 50s.
In 2007, Jhulan won the ICC Women's Player of the award. She was a recipient of the Arjun Award for the year 2010. She was won M.A. Chidambaram trophy for Best Women Cricketer in 2011.
Jhulan Goswami is a recipient of the Padma Shri award - India's fourth highest civilian honor for the year 2011. Goswami is the second India woman cricketer to be awarded the Padma Shri in 2012, after the first Indian Women's captain Diana Edulji.
Goswami was part of the Indian team to reach the final of the 2017 Women's Cricket World Cup where the team lost to England by nine runs.
Jhulan Goswami, former captain of the Indian women's cricket team revealed on Tuesday, 19 September 2017, that a biopic on her is in the making with the working title 'Chakdaha Express'. The biopic will be directed by Sushanta Das, it will trace Jhulan's journey from the Vivekananda Park nets in Kolkata to the Lord's cricket ground in London.
