Wrestling Champion Alka Tomar

Alka Tomar (Born in Sisoli village, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh) is an Indian National Women Wrestling Champion. She won bronze medal in 1998's World Championship, first by an Indian wrestler in 39 years.

Wrestling Champion Alka Tomar

Alka Tomar received the bronze medal in Wrestling (55 kg Freestyle) at the Doha Asian Games in 2006. She also received a bronze at the Senior Wrestling Championships in Guangzhou in China 2006.

Alka started wrestling at the age of 6. She was born in a Rajput family in Sisoli village. Sisoli is one of the 12 villages of Tomar Rajput in this region called as Baraha.

Alka received India's leading Sports award, Arjuna award in 2007. She has also received Yash Bharti award. She also won a Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi. She is the only gold medal winner from the Western Uttar Pradesh.
