Anjali Bhagwat (maiden name Anjali Ved Pathak, Born on 5 December 1969 in Mumbai, Maharashtra) is a professional Indian shooter. In 2002, Anjali became the World Number One in 10m Air Rifle. In 2003, She won her first World Cup Final with a score of 399/400 in Milan.


Anjali was born in a Marathi Deshastha family in Mumbai. In the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, Anjali Bhagwat emerged victorious in the singles as well as pairs event of the Air Rifle and Small Bore Rifle (Three positions) events.

Anjali Bhagwat happens to be the first woman in the world of shooting who has inspired many talented youngsters to follow her footsteps and enter the sphere of the previously male dominated sport. Her first brush with shooting occurred during her stint as a cadet in the National Cadet Corps (NCC).


Anjali Bhagwat was awarded the Arjuna award in 2000 and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna jointly with Beenamol for 2002–2003. she has bagged Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Award, Maharashtra Gaurav and Maharashtra Pratishtha Award in 1993. She represented India at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, 2004 Athens Olympics, and the 2008 Beijing Olympics, though she couldn't win a medal.



In 2003, Afro Asian Games, Anjali Bhagwat made history by becoming the first female shooter in India to take a gold and a silver medal in the 3p Sports and air rifle events, respectively. In the following year at the Athens Olympic Games, performed well, although he managed only to finish in the 8th position.

For his excellent performance, Bhagwat has been obtained for a third consecutive Olympic contingent to the Beijing Olympics 2008 after acquiring the fourth in World Cup Brazil 2006. According to past records, Anjali Bhagwat won up to 31 Gold, 23 Silver, 7 Bronze medals, setting new records in international competitions. In National competitions in India, she has won 55 Gold, 35 Silver and 16 Bronze medals.
